Reviews of 3 demo tracks submitted to independent reviewers on slice the pie.com Dec 2007 Wilderness This is a pretty cool track, it doesn't sound like anyone is trying to hard, which results in quite a laid back track, that's different, but not as if they are making a statement about being different . Bit of an epic beginning to this, like a Ladysmith Black Mambazo track! Great rock beat to it, kind of an 80s vibe to the vocals and the style of it, liked it. A nice track. I like the music,it has a classic rock to it which is always refreshing to hear. The vocalists sings in a laid back/soft rock style which I think suits the music and the lyrics. Great feeling of purity at the beginning with the vocals and birds. A really interesting mix of something quite spiritual sounding and a rock music backing mix. A really exotic atmosphere seems to envelope this song like a thick mist and its lovely. A really hooky guitar and bass line too and a vocal with real character. A bigger production would help but there's an almost nick cave esche twang here that I love The song sounded like a mesh of genres all thrown together in a blender...and honestly it made a pretty unique and tasty smoothie.. I liked it more and more the longer i listened. Good pacing, powerful vocals fitting in well with the level of background music. Nothing overpowers other elements of the track, and I would be happy to download this one or listen to it as part of an album. Found myself tapping my fingers along by the time the track was only half way through! Good work! I Like the instrumental break half way through - the change of dimension fits in really well, I like the indian intro in this song. And as the music starts my first thought is that it's a shame for the beautiful indian vocals. But as this song continues I think it turns out te be a good song. Very beautiful vocals (both English and Indian). The indian touch makes this song different though. A good track. Where are you to be When this started thought it sounded a lot like a Snow Patrol track, it's a great melancholy, mellow laid back track. Like the insistent repeating acoustic guitar riff in the background, nice contrast with the melodic guitar up front. Great track. I like the vocals, they remind me of Nick Cave. The music is hypnotic and wandering. Miserable, depressing but lovely! Great tune and I like the guys voice. Great vocals on a excellent backing sound, some great guitar playing I loved this, it's left me unable to write a constructive review because i'm so mellow now! It's a shame this track isn't the whole song. A thoroughly pleasant track in fairness, although not the most original one you'll hear all year. The relaxed and soothing vocals compliment the dreamy guitar lines nicely, and it all drifts along at a nice pace. With a bit more spit and polish this track could leave the shackles of mediocrity well and truly behind. Nina Soft melencholy track but works really well and this guys voice suits the song and its sad music. Pretty chilled track with some meaningful lyrics. Great vocals....the production seems to have really caught the sense of this song. Very professional. Good song.. liked the singers voice was really good, nice guitar sound effects in the background Liked the mellow acoustic start to this track, love this kind of stuff generally. Great raw, emotional vocalist and melancholy sound to it. Liked it a lot, and the lyrics were great, liked the extra (?) guitar effects laid on, as well as the quieter interludes. This is quite chilled out and soulful. The acoustic guitar was great and reminded me of chilling round a camp-fire (very 60s, i know!) Have to admit the vocals seemed really quiet at times so I couldn't tell exactly what was being said, but the music expressed itself really well, so I got the general impression ok. I liked it. Not too demanding on the ears. Mellow. Excellent song, very enjoyable. Vocalist was very accomplished and backing track was perfect. Extemely haunting,. the guitars remind me a little of tubular bells, the backing instruments all blend together perfectly to allow the vocals to really shine. This track starts very good with beautiful guitar playing and wonderful vocals. But after listening to this song for a minute and a half this song seems to have very little variety in it. It's good that around the two minute more instruments are added, which in my opinion could have happened earlier. With the change and adding of instrumentation this song gets more attraction. It's a wonderful composition. An acoustic guitar will do a song good every time. This mellow exhibit is calming and sweet. The singer’s voice is able to convey feeling and invite the listener to go through this story with him. Great job Good style of music. The structure of the song seemed solid with the lyrics and melody mixing extremely well. Just by having a few instruments and keeping it simple made the song seem so much more poignant and effective. Good quality recording. Good track. Golly this singer has a great deep voice. Infact it is so resonant that it makes the guitar seem tinny and small. A slow song a bit like the slower tracks of Johhny Cash but with a more musical voice. If anything this would be better with a louder guitar backing. Oh what a lovely start to a sound moving song. He got a super voice and lovely track as well. Really gonna do well with a song like this and it make you feel good. More age range he is to point this song too. Good luck! This is a very mellow and thoughtful track that clearly has a great style and charm to it. The acoustic chord sequence works well in conjunction with the vocals. The little samples of electric over the top just add a little substance and depth and ultimately a cracker of a track is produced. A very relaxing song, nicely arranged with a great overlayed guitar sound. By the time the bass came in I had decided it was the kind of song I could see working well in the mainstream, and by the time the string section appeared - this confirmed it for me. Simple melencholic lyrics which are suprisingly catchy. This song is pretty simple but really works. I would love to hear this backed by some money
